Hanging personalized christmas stockings by the fireplace has been a Holiday tradition for a long time. Originally, working class families would hang their socks by the fire to let them dry.

According to tradition, there was a man in Germany with three young daughters who lost his wife to a fever. He eventually spent all of their money on bad investments, and the family had no money. The girls couldn’t even afford to get married.

After hanging their Christmas Stockings in front of the fire, the family went to sleep. St. Nicholas heard about the family’s situation and stopped by that evening. When he saw the socks on the fireplace and saw that the family was asleep, he filled each of the Christmas Stockings with a piece of gold.

The gold allowed the girls to get married and a tradition was born!
